Hi, I'm Matthew! I studied Dentistry at Queen's in Belfast before heading across the water to build up my OMFS experience in Scotland and Manchester. I've since made my way back to Northern Ireland and I'm currently a second degree medical student at Ulster University in Derry. I also work in the OMFS department at the Ulster Hospital in Belfast, which keeps my clinical skills ticking over nicely.
The second-degree pathway can feel pretty overwhelming at times. The finances, the logistics and the general "am I mad for doing this?". I've been through all of it.
As your regional rep, I want to make the whole process a bit less mysterious. I'm always happy to offer honest advice and support to anyone thinking about or already on their second degree, especially when it comes to the pathways available here in Northern Ireland.
