The annual JTG conference is a national surgical conference supported by the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons. We welcome anyone with an interest in OMFS — from undergraduate medical and dental students, foundation doctors, DFTs, DCTs, CSTs and dual qualified Pre-STs.

The JTG are pleased to able to offer discounted room rates for the duration of our conference. You can click this link to book your rooms.
Accommodation can be found throughout Glasgow. The Hilton is an easy walk from City Centre, Finnieston and the West End. Many of the Committee have l studied or worked in Glasgow so can advise further - please feel free to email if you have any questions.
Public transport is reliable. The nearest train stations are Anderston and Charing Cross, both about 5-10 minutes walk from the Hilton.

JTG Annual General Meeting
The 2026 JTG Annual General Meeting will take place during our annual conference on Saturday 7th November.
For those not in attendance at the Conference, you can join remotely on Teams.
There are no proposed changes to the constitution at this AGM and no formal votes scheduled to take place. Our current constitution can be viewed here.

Mr Neil Shah
Speaker
Neil Shah is a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial and Head & Neck Surgeon at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust, with a specialist interest in head and neck cancer, early diagnosis and compassionate cancer care. Throughout his career, he has led regional and national initiatives to improve cancer diagnosis pathways, patient outcomes and healthcare delivery, including serving as Early Diagnosis Lead for London Cancer / UCLPartners. He has contributed to research, education, innovation and service development in head and neck oncology.
He is a Patron of Saving Faces, the UK’s leading facial surgery research charity, and serves on the Board of the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of England, where one of his key priorities is advancing oral cancer awareness, early diagnosis and patient outcomes.
His current interests include the future of medical education, the role of humanity and hope in healthcare, and how innovation and artificial intelligence can be harnessed to improve patient care while preserving the values at the heart of medicine.

Ms Manjit Dhillon
Speaker
Manjit Dhillon is a Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) specialist. She competed 10 years as consultant at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and is now freelancing and doing humanitarian missions.
Born & raised in Glasgow she attended Westbourne School for Girls & Glasgow Academy.
She completed Dentistry with distinctions & obtained her Bachelors of Dental Surgery with Honours at the University of Dundee in 2001.
She went on to qualify in Medicine with Distinction & Commendation in 2007 and was awarded the Dyce Davidson Medal in Clinical Medicine as the top medical student in her year.
Her higher surgical training experience in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery was obtained between the Oxford & Scottish training programmes with overseas postgraduate experience in New York & Mumbai.
She was awarded Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons & Physicians in Glasgow in 2013 and became the first, and for many years the only female OMFS / Head & Neck Oncology & Reconstructive, Microvascular surgeon in Scotland.
Manjit has been a keen surgical trainer & was awarded the prestigious UK Silver Scalpel Award in 2021 by the Association of Surgeons in Training (ASiT).
She is an Alumni humanitarian surgeon with Mercyships and completed 5 missions to Madagascar and Sierra Leone.
Her hobbies include travelling, journaling, listening to audiobooks and hanging out with her niece as the cool aunty!

Mr David Laraway
Speaker
David Laraway is a consultant Craniomaxillofacial Trauma Surgeon at QEUH Glasgow.
Having completed his surgical training in Oral and Maxillofacial Sugery in Mersey, he then completed a craniofacial surgery fellowship in Alder Hey Hospital, Liverpool.
He specialises in transcranial trauma and reconstruction, and lectures on this nationally and internationally. He works with his neurosurgical colleagues on complex skull reconstruction, in particular cranioplasty surgery, and is committed to reducing complication rates in this challenging group.
He is a member of the Strasbourg Osteosynthesis Research Group (SORG) Trauma section and a lecturer at the University of Glasgow, and is responsible for the shortened Medicine degree for Dental graduates at the University of Glasgow.

Ms Mhairi Little
Speaker
Mhairi is an OMFS consultant in Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, but lives in Glasgow. Her subspecialty interest is orthognathic surgery but teaching and training dental, medical and surgical trainees is the best part of her job.

Mr Bilal Aslam-Pervez
Speaker
Mr Aslam-Pervez is a dually qualified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon, holding both Dental and Medical degrees from the University of Glasgow and University of Manchester respectively. He is a Consultant in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow, with a specialist clinical focus on Head and Neck Oncology and complex reconstructive surgery.
He has extensive experience in the assessment and management of patients with head and neck malignancy, including oral cavity, oropharyngeal and cutaneous cancers. He has developed particular expertise in major ablative and reconstructive surgery, including microvascular free-flap reconstruction and the management of complex postoperative complications.
He completed a dedicated Fellowship in Head and Neck Surgery at Liverpool, gaining further high-volume experience in advanced head and neck cancer surgery, complex resections and microvascular reconstruction. He has also undertaken international training and observerships at leading centres, including Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan and units in Sri Lanka, alongside experience at University College London Hospitals (UCLH). These attachments have further developed his expertise in advanced head and neck and reconstructive techniques.
He is also actively involved in postgraduate and undergraduate teaching and has presented his clinical and academic work at national and international conferences, with publications in the field of Head and Neck Oncology and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
Alongside his head and neck oncology practice, Mr Aslam-Pervez has a particular interest in implant dentistry and complex dental rehabilitation. He holds an MSc in Implantology from Cardiff University and has experience in complex implant rehabilitation, including full-arch treatment, guided implant surgery, bone grafting and immediate loading techniques.

Ms Elizabeth Gruber
Workshop Lead
I am an OMFS Consultant at University Hospitals of Northamptonshire NHS Trust, with specialist interests in skin cancer, orthognathic surgery and minimally invasive salivary gland and TMJ surgery. I am currently Lead of the Skin Subspecialty Interest Group (SSIG) of BAOMS and am active in clinical research and developing educational resources relating to skin cancer and reconstruction.
I have a passion for education and am the Associate Postgraduate Dental Dean for DCT in the Midlands Deanery. I am an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of EdinburghMOMS exam and Board Reviewer for the British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Additional roles are chair of the Consultant and Specialists Group of the BAOMS Council, and UK Councillor to the IAOMS.
My interests outside of work include world travel and philately.

Mr Ashraf Messiha
Speaker
Mr Messiha has qualifications in Medicine (University College) and Dentistry.(Liverpool). This was followed by General Surgical training before returning to the London Deanery Higher Surgical Training program in Oral & Maxillo-Facial Surgery at St George’s Hospital, Northwick Park Hospital (Imperial), Queen Victoria Hospital (East Grinstead), and the Royal Surrey County Hospital. Ash was awarded the Intercollegiate Specialty Board FRCS in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery and pursued his interest subject in Facial Deformity. He has written several book chapters as well as various publications. He travelled extensively and presented in Singapore, Brazil, Turkey and Malta as well as UK
He was appointed in a substantive Consultant position at Northwick Park Hospital and St Mary’s London University Hospital
and subsequently joined the team at St George’s Hospital and Kingston Hospital.
is a core member of the Cranio-Orbito-Facial deformity Multidisciplinary Team as well as the Joint Complex Orthognathic MDT.
Ash served as President of the OMFS section of the Royal Society of Medicine and has an active role as the Educational Lead for Pan London Oral and Maxillofacial STC Faculty at the London Deanery. He has an active interest in TMJ surgery, OSAS, Orthognathic surgery and facial reanimation.

Mr Craig Wales is an OMFS Head and Neck Surgeon who has worked for 16 years in Glasgow , including the last 6 as the head of department
He has spent time training in Scotland , Yorkshire and Munich
Mr Wales is part of a large team in Glasgow , still loves his job.

There are a number of workshops being offered this year, details of which can be found on the registration form and on the website. These will fill up fast, so get registrations in soon! If there is any availability on the day we will endeavour to fill the workshop, so if you miss out, make sure to check when at the conference.

Yes! Every year we receive many abstracts of exceptionally high quality from across the UK, and beyond. We are pleased to offer the opportunity to present e-posters and oral presentations. You may submit an abstract for consideration of an oral presentation, poster, or both!
Due to the limited space and time available in our busy programme, only the highest-scoring projects are accepted for an oral presentation. If your project is accepted however, we will invite you to submit it as an e-poster, to be displayed during the conference.
