Miss Alexandra Thompson

Workshop Supervisor

Miss Alexandra Thompson is a Maxillofacial surgeon in Sheffield with a subspeciality interest in Head and Neck Oncology.

She went to Newcastle Dental School in 2002 and was thinking about being a specialist restorative dentist until she did a year of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, she thought about it for another 2 years before doing Medicine at Manchester. No one in her year at dental school was surprised by this and she could’ve saved herself a lot of time if they’d told her this earlier.

Graduating from Manchester in 2015 she went back to Sunderland for her foundation years, making it 12 years in the North East. In 2017 she moved back to Yorkshire, (God’s own county) to marry an ENT surgeon and start core surgical training. Alex did her higher specialist training in East Midlands and started as a consultant in Sheffield in March of 2024.

Outside work Alex enjoys making clothes, eating out, and now that her son is 3 she and her husband Miran have started to enjoy going to the playground, pointing out cars and ambulances. They look forward to being able to go travelling again once they’re out of the toddler phase.
